For ANY rising 6th or 7th grader interested in Beginning Band, we will be offering sessions for students to try out the instruments that we offer.  These are for any student who already registered for band OR any student who now wants to join band. Click here to learn a little more about the band program at MMS. Each meeting will last around 40 minutes and will be limited to 8 students per time slot. Students will be able to try out the mouthpieces for all of the instruments we offer.  Each student will have their own set of mouthpieces to play.  We will also demonstrate the instruments.  The rhythm test will be given to all who are interested in the percussion class.

Meetings will take place in the cafeteria at Mauldin Middle School. Please enter the front doors of the  building, 3-5 minutes before your scheduled time. Parents should plan to accompany their child.

Use Signup Genius to reserve a spot within one of these sessions. Again, each meeting will last 40 minutes; you will need to be present at the beginning of the time slot you choose in the Sign Up Genius. Link:

Your Instrument

Musical instruments are investments, and we want to help to make sure you find the best instrument to fit your natural abilities. Already met with our directors to determine the best instrument for you? If not, please be sure to contact us before purchasing an instrument.

If you don't already own your instrument, we highly recommend acquiring it from a local music store. We are happy to discuss our preferred brands with you!

Please contact us if you have any questions, or want us to look at a used instrument that you already own to make sure it's in good working condition and suited for a beginning band student.
